Head Mentor
Kane Felsinger
As a teacher of 10+ years, I came to the realisation that I was having less and less time to do what I loved most about teaching, which was building the skills for life. Consumed by constant examines, testing and assessments, I was feeling myself drifting further away from my values and finding less satisfaction in my teaching career. I was burnt-out, tired and often referred to as 'the mean teacher'. This horrified me.
Soon after, leaving my place of employment, I discovered myself again when I started to apply my research and training of Positive Education and Wellbeing with parents from previous schools who wanted advice and guidance for their children. Thus, The Positive Mentor (TPM) was born and it has been an incredible journey to see every mentee grow, evolve and be challenged to find their own success. Nothing gives me more joy than seeing a mentee flourish.
TPM isn't about solving challenges, but rather facilitating and guiding the mentee through the experience of challenges to understand that this is a part of life, and therefore how we react to these challenges will determine what pathway we discover next and having the tools and strategies to continue on the pathway independently and confidently.

What is the VIA Character Survey?
The Values in Action (VIA) Survey of Character Strengths is a 240-item face-valid self-report questionnaire intended for use with individuals. The measure uses 5-point Likert-style items to measure the degree to which respondents endorse items reflecting the 24 strengths of character that comprise the VIA Classification.
